Another example of sweet sixteen.

You may already know that to correctly expose outside on a sunny day, sweet sixteen is kind of a rule of thumb:

Set your aperture to f/16 and your shutter speed should be about the inverse of your ISO setting.

For example f/16, 1/100 sec and ISO 100 would give you a correct exposure under the mid day sun.

Of course you will run into situations where the mid day sun can be ‘dimmer’ or ‘brighter’ one day from another .. You’d then need to adjust your shutter speed or aperture accordingly.

For this below example, I have slightly ‘over-exposed” the shot by 2/3 of a stop.

The exposure on my Canon EOS 5D Mark III mounted with the Canon EF 50mm f/1.2 L is f/16 (minimum aperture on my Canon EF 50mm f/1.2 L USM), Tv 1/125 sec and ISO 200.
