Our guest photographer today is a talented photographer from Sacramento Bang, of TomKat Photography.

Bang started wedding photography a few year ago and I would I say that he inspires me a lot and I happen to check out his work quite often to in turn try to keep my work fresh and add some variety https://mgpharmacie.com/.

Back in 2010, Bang helped me shoot a wedding here in Canberra and my couple was very happy with his photography and TomKat is someone I would highly recommend for weddings in the California, from Los Angeles to San Francisco and of course in the Sacramento areas.

I was very excited when Bang accepted my invitation to feature on this site and here is the interview of the man behind TomKat Photography.

1. Australian-Photo: Who are you?
Bang: My name is AnhBang TonThat, everyone calls me “Bang” 😉

2. A-P: How did you become a wedding photographer?
Bang: I grew up hating photography, or should I say, being photographed by others. I despised posing in front of the camera and having my picture taken. In 2007, I discovered photography when I saw Canon’s 85mm f1.2 lens on B&H magazine and said, “I’ve gotta get that lens.” Not knowing anything about cameras or lenses, my wife bought me my first full frame DSLR 5D  and “THE” lens, 85mm f1.2, for Father’s Day.  Like any new sport or hobby, photography takes a lot of time and commitment to learn and a lifetime to master. I started out photographing family and friends, and most especially my daughter, Katie. She would always play dress-up and ask to have her picture taken. Having a readily available subject around the house is a photographer’s dream come true. My passion for photography grew as time went on and I realized I could do a lot more with my style and creativity.

3. A-P: What inspires you?
Bang: I love natural light and am inspired by great Australian, American and around the world wedding photographers as Jasmine Star, Jerry Ghionis, etc.
4. A-P: What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learnt either from a teacher/mentor or by the hard way?
Bang: Internet has been my formal mentor since I got my first DSLR and one of the most valuable lessons when shooting portrait with natural light is ” To watch your background”.

5. A-P: Who would be the photographer you’d like to shoot along with? Who would you like to shoot for your next assignment (Model/public figure ..)?
Bang: Jerry Ghionis for a wedding, Thierry Nguyen Cuu for Fashion and Tuyen Nguyen Cuu for street photography (www.daymadi.com)

6. A-P: What’s in your bag/studio (kind of equipment do you use | camera/lens brand, computer hardware software)?
Bang: I am a Canon fan and for wedding I normally carry 2 full frame DSLRs, 85 f1.2, 50 f1.2, 16-35 f2.8, 70-200 f2.8, two 580EXII flash, radio poppers, Quantum Trio & Pilot

7. A-P: What’s your favourite piece of gear?
Bang: One of my favorite lenses is 85 f1.2

8. A-P: What would be your workflow, favourite piece of software?
Bang: I shoot raw 100% , use Canon software DPP and CS5

9. A-P: Do you have any suggestions for aspiring photographers?
Bang: Know your gears well – look at great photos or movies to learn its lighting and composition – practice seeing before you shoot

10. A-P: Anything else we should know about you?
Bang: I have cameras and I travel everywhere to Capture Life’s Precious Moments.
